The Ballerina by Samantha Olivia Gunawan |
Nirmana is the arrangement of visual elements such as lines, shapes, colors, and textures into a single unit that looks beautiful or gives the expected impact. The word "nirmana" comes from two words, namely, "nir" which means without or not, and "mana" which means form, meaning, or meaning. So, nirmana is something that initially has no form or meaning and can be processed into a work of art through processing visual elements based on its principles.
Nirmana can also mean the result of imagination in the form of two or three dimensions that have a value of beauty. Meanwhile, the procedure for the preparation of various visual elements is the Design Principle. However, these procedures and elements are packaged through a more detailed hierarchy, becoming Nirmana Dwimatra for 2D works and Nirmana Trimatra for 3D works.
This theory is usually presented in learning that holds a practicum because the designer or artist is a practitioner. Nirmana aims to train students' abilities to arrange various elements of art into a beautiful unit or in accordance with the purpose of creating works. However, this theory can also be used to conduct scientific analysis for the purposes of scientific research or art criticism.
